NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Leave it alone!! The screen actually does serve a purpose. It straightens out incoming airflow. It really is not a good idea to take it out. It could help and or hurt you. Sometimes tuners have a hard time tuning for the absence of the screen. But that is the only reason I would take it out. If I were gonna get it tuned to accomodate for the MAF with no screen. Unless you are pushing some crazy HP numbers, that screen doesnt even become a bottleneck.

Plus, in some instances it actually makes the truck run slightly lean, throws off the fuel trims. It did on mine and I bought a new mass air because of it.

as with the tiny bit of airflow that is gained it is also lost.some do good with it. it can be somewhat tuned for. but remember that the pcm still controls all changes. the screen straightens out the airflow for the computer to get a solid reading. with the screen out it will get false reading from turbulence and in the end learn out making it a minimul gain. i have tried Z06 mafs, granatelli's and descreened ones. i am back and staying with a stock one. it has worked flawlessly.
