Help Help! Broken E-Brake Release Cable

Hey everyone!

 

So this morning, the cable connecting the release handle under the dash to the assembly at the top of the e-brake pedal snapped. Right after 36,000 miles too! It figures that right when the warranty ends, something breaks. The VERY first problem with my truck. 2001 Silverado 1500 by the way.

 

Can anyone be so kind as to locate a part number for this cable, and an estimated cost? I'd like to know before going to the Stealership Parts Department. Can't be that hard to replace, so I'd like to buy and fix it myself. Thanks everyone!!

This happened on my 2000 Silverado at about 100,000 miles. I haven't replaced it yet.

Got the part today. 11.81 for the cable and new handle. Not bad. They wanted 65 bucks for installation, and it's only 1 bolt so I did it myself. My dealer has them instock at the parts counter. Better than not having a parking brake. The service guy said he's seen it a few times.
