Avalanche Sunroof

After responding to the question by dex about water intrusion, I remembered a problem of my own. Hate to wear you all out with posts, but here it is. When I close my sunroof there is only a fraction of a second between the time it is fully closed and when the back end of it starts to raise. Am I doing something wrong, or just a complete idiot? I worry about leaving it unattended in the rain because I am never completely sure that the back of the sunroof is closed. I read the manual, but maybe I am missing something.

I would think that there would be a longer delay than that...  are you sure it's not a "one-touch" switch that after it starts closing for a second or two, just take your finger off the button and it will shut on it's own???  (I'm guessing)

I thought so too. It is one touch to open, but haven't been able to close it that way. I'll experiment with it again, could be a flaw for the dealer to fix.

I'm not sure about the sunroof either.  I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to look at one...I'll let you know what I find out.

I was confused by that as well before I got to really play with it.  When you close the sunroof, hold the button until the rear raises into place and all activity stops.  Then you can release the button.  After that, if you push the forward positioned button, it will then continue to raise the rear of the glass into the vent position.

 

It is normal for the back of the glass to raise up into place as part of the closing movement.  If you just hold the button until it finishes raising and won't do anything else for 2-3+ seconds, you will be closed and sealed.  Not doing so will let the liquid sunshine come in.

You guys sound pretty happy with your Avs.  What area of the country are you in?  The dealers here (Houston) can't sell at all.  I've only seen one on the road and it was a dealer demo.  I don't get it.  I started looking at HD CC's and found the Av and fell in love.  I mean it still looks odd to me, but that adds to the coolness factor.  Guess I'll be the first one around.  I'm buying this weekend.  Cant wait.

Welcome to the ranks.  I am up in Vancouver (well a suburb of, Burnaby) BC, Canada.

 

I am very new to Avalanche ownership, only had it in my hands for 2 days, but I researched the snot out of it before hand, and have been extremely pleased thus far.

 

There aren't a great deal around yet, although I am the second one on the Stargate SG1 crew to own one, our Secial Effects Co-ord bought a 1500 in August.  He loves his too.

I live in Southern Illinois. They got my Avalanche on the locator from Indiana. I've only had it a week, but it is the best vehicle I have ever driven-so far. And I was a Ford man.
