Trans swap, need help please

I have a 1982 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4.

It has a 350 trans in it now, I also

have a 91 camaro 700r-4 trans I

want to put in it. I am told I need

a conversion kit to fit the 700r-44.

Where can I get one, or what do i

really need to do this swap. thanks

You need a different TH700-R4. The 2WD version uses a lighter case, and is garanteed to break the case if you change out the tail shaft housing and hang a T-case off of it.

 

Not what you wanted to hear, but it'll save you some down the road.

 

You gotta find a TH700-R4 with a big "K" mark on the side of it to start this conversion.

What a trip, that must be why my 350 case is cracked

 

I don't even plan on using it for off road, I figured it hold up.
