Control Arms - Spindles 2wd

The Truck: 89 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton single cab, short bed 2wd with 5.7L

The Problem: rear axle has clunk

The Fix: I have a friend who is willing to give me a light duty 3/4 ton rear axle. This axle has 6 lugs which leaves the problem of having 2 different lug patterns on my truck.

The question: Will light duty 3/4 ton control arms fit on my 1/2 ton. Or will a 3/4 ton spindle fit on 1/2 ton control arms?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You

Check the spines on your driveshaft that goes into the trans, they might be dry and not sliding in and out smoothly. Just a little grease or lube should help.

Get your minds out of the gutter!

If you change rear ends, just change the axles or run adapters.

If I remember correctly, they should interchange. I have put that year spindles and rotors on a 1970, that was a direct bolt on. Maybe someone else would know for sure.
