Steering Wheel Rattle on bumpy road

Recommended Posts

I notice at times on a bumpy dirt road that I get a little rattle in my steering column.

Is this the reason the intermediate steering shaft lube is done on the nbs trucks?

Is this the quick fix for mine?

Yep, that's probably what it is. The shaft rattle is more of a heavy, knocking type feel in the steering than a light rattle. You feel it more than you hear it. If that's what you have, it is no doubt the ISS.

And what sucks, is after you get it done it comes back after awhile...or at least it has for me.... :ughdance:

If it's just lubricated, yes. If the new design shaft is installed, that *should* correct it permanently. I have heard some say the new shaft makes noise after time too, but I haven't seen it.

Yes it is more of a clunk. I felt it more than I heard it. I'm usually a stickler for using the correct sound identifiers.

Anybody know of any guides available for the obs trucks or are the procedures the same?

Just realized you said you have a 99 Yukon. Nevermind. None of this stuff about the intermediate steering shaft applies. :ughdance:
