Hey guys, I have been trying to install the F&$D keys on my 99 Z71 and I seem to be having a little trouble. When I try to remove the old key from the passenger side I cant seem to find a tool to work due to the fact that I have custom dual exhaust thats only about a half inch above the torsion bar crossmember. I tried a balljoint press- to d**n big to fit above the crossmember. i tried a heavy duty C-Clamp- was working until it bent due to offset angle because of exhaust. Can't find a GM Torsion BAr Unloading tool around these parts to rent or borrow. Does anyone have any information that would help me. I'm getting really bummed out because I have everything to do it with just can't put it on! Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I used a gear puller with 3 adjustable arms. 2 hooked on the cross member and 1 on the end so it would not slide.

A gear puller will work like BLADE said. It is best to use the Tbar tool but if you cant get one you cant get one.

If the exhause is in the way.. Might just have to hack out a section and have it re-welded in after.

Got to be safe.

Hey BLADE,

Did you use just a standard 3 Jawed Gear Puller like I could get at the local Autozone? Cause I really don't want to cut off a piece of my custom exhaust! :ughdance: That would severely make my exhaust man angry! And I don't want that! Any info is greatly appreciated!

I borrowed the 3 jaw gear puller from a friend of mine. It was pretty heavy duty. but not that bulky. I have read to use a 7 ton puller but I think a 5 will be just fine. Go to the auto parts store like auto zone and they have them for around $40.

OK guys got them installed finally! Now I have the decision about what to do about the back? Im thinking im going to go with Tuff Country 2" Add-A-Leafs and some ORD U-Bolt flip kits! What do you guys think?
