GMracer Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I got a couple questions about my new truck I would like to have answered... 1.) How easy is it to remove the side "ding bars" and does it need any more work then just removing them? 2.) My 1500 Reg. Cab came with rubber floor instead of carpet. Where can I get carpet to replace this flooring, and what does it take to do so? 3.) And it came with the 4.8V8, what are some good performance upgrades? Thanks nick
99silveradoz71 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 You're talking about the molding on the sides I'm guessing? Those that have done it have had good luck on hot days or with the use of a hair dryer to heat up the glue. A little fishing line behind it has also worked for some. Finally, a product like Goo Gone has helped to get rid of the adhesive. Now mind you I still have my moldings on, so perhaps others can give you a bit more detail.
highup1500hd Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 like stated above, wait till a nice hot day and let your truck heat up. I found that using a credit card to get the plastic to start peeling off worked the best. Once it starts you can pull it off. The hotter the day the more glue will stick to the plastic rather than your truck. As for the carpet kit you can try places like stylin concepts or truckperformance.com, shouldn't be more too it than pulling out your seat and maybe console if you have one. As for performance mods, your wallet is the only thing limiting it. You can do a performance tune (westers, nelsons, pcm for less, superchips, daiblo predator, hypertech), a new cat back exhaust, drop in a air filter kit like a volant or K and N. Those are probably the most common. Enjoy your new truck!
