Just wondering if anyone could help me out.

I currently have Comcast Cable Internet. However I am moving this coming weekend. I may be able to tap into a friends internet connection with my computer. The middle of Jan. I move into my house and then I will have some sort of Internet (dial up :seeya: or dsl). My question is I have a ton of favorites. How can I save these so I dont lose them?

Thanks

What OS do you use? What browser do you use? Is it a customized one for your ISP?

If you use IE, your Favorites are usually stored in a folder named, of all things, Favorites. If you use Win XP or Win 2000, look for the Documents and Settings folder, then the folder named for the name you log in as on the computer. In there should be your Favorites folder.

If you use Mozilla (any type) or Netscape, it may be a little more complex, but you can search for a file called bookmarks.html

Are you going to be using a different computer? It didn't sound like it from your original post. If not, changing your ISP or internet connection type really has nothing to do with your browser or favorites. It's just a different connection method and nothing else will change.

No not yet it will still be the same computer

I still wanted to "save" my favorites. I had my HD crash this past summer and I lost all of my favorites. :seeya:

Just want to make sure I have them just in case

Right click on the Start button, then select "Explore" in the little menu that pops up. Click on the "+" next to "Local Disk (C:)" to expand it and display the folders under it. You should see one called "Documents and Settings"

Click the "+" next to "Documents and Settings" and you should see the various usernames that log on to your computer. Among them will be "Administrator", "All Users", "Default User", etc. If you have your own logon, that one should be there too. Click on the "+" next to your logon name and all the folders will display. You'll see one called "Favorites" with an icon that looks like a star. That's the folder that has all your favorites in it.

Right click on the Favorites folder, select Copy from the menu that drops down. Then go to wherever you want to copy this. Once there, right click, select Paste and voila, a copy of that folder is there.

There's probably some little utility out there that will do all this for you, but I don't have any suggestions on that.

Not to sound rude, but did you read the rest of the thread? Your post says almost EXACTLY what mine did, except you told him what drive to look on. I see this A LOT on the forums I visit, people will reply to a question, then someone comes along 5 posts later and says the exact same thing as the first response.
