change settings on automatic door locks

I have recently bought a 1999 gmc 1500 ext. sb Sierra. I want to change the settings on my truck to unlock all the doors when the ignition is turned off. I understand that this can be done on all 2000 and 2001 tahoes and silverados. But the instructions do not work on my truck. Can anyone help?

Of course the online specialist and dealership employees no nothing.

I got your fix GMCbluestreak.  Kind of.  It's a kit you can buy that unlocks your doors when you put the shifter in park.  Mine works great.  Here's the link.  http://tommy3z71.homestead.com/auto_unlock.html   There is a link on my page to the website where you can that, and other good stuff.  This was something unique to the '99's.  I guess enought people complained, that they fixed it for the '00's and on.

BTW, welcome to the site.  Hope you like it.

On my truck they will only unlock when I pull the key about halfway out of the ignition...  Unlike my wifes Olds, which has about 4-5 different settings and I currently have it set to unlock when you place the van in park (I like it better that way and wish I could set my truck like that)

There is a "supplement" insert that I got in my manual and it described all the different door lock sequence. You can probably ask your dealer and they will give you a copy.
