Power locks, windows and keyless entry?

Recommended Posts

I am planning to get the Work Truck package for the silverado ... and it doesn't come with power door locks, windows, and keyless entry.

Has anyone installed them on a Silverado and how much would it be?

Get an alarm for about 350 installed and it will take care of the remote entry and power locks. Although, you wont have an unlock switch in the car. Who cares though, cause the doors unlock when you turn the vehicle off and lock when you start it in gear afetr startup. Power windows maybe a little harder. Cruise is cheap too as I found out. 75 bucks.

In order for the aftermarket alarm to have remote entry and locks, those have to be already installed on the vehicle. Good quality lock actuators for the doors will run about $75-100 per door, installed. A good Keyless Entry unit will run another $75. Power window motors will probably run $175-200 per door, then you have the choice of putting ganky looking covers over the window crank holes or finding different door panels.

By the time you run around finding somebody you trust to do the<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=work&id=4';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> work </a>well and clean up after all the<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=work&id=4';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> work,</a> even if you paid yourself $5/hr to get it all taken care of, I'd think you'd rather spend the difference for an LS-which is only about $2k on the stripper LS models.

I did the cruise real easy and I'm added the alarm/ keyless entry, as far as power windows goes the kits look cheap, I figure since I have ac I can live without them

Maybe I'll add a sunroof instead. I really didnt want to spend the extra money and really didnt want a loaded up truck. I like the easy clean floor and the "I know its in" 4x4 lever on the floor. Plus I get to have giving it the personal touch.

All alarm shops will put in actuators for the door. About 50 bucks a peice. A decent viper alarm has keyless entry as well as buttons for auxillary items such as windows or your stereo or whatever. Altogether with actuators it will cost you about 350-400 bucks for a real good alarm. In regards to the factory alarm, they are worthless unless your trying to keep the truck away from a toddler.
