Tips for removing spark plug wires?

I bought some new spark plug wires for my 01 Sierra. I can get the wire off of the coil, but not the plug itself.:devil: Do you have to remove the heatsheilds from around the plug first? Any advice would help.

Grab the boot and give it a slight twist to break the seal. A Spark Plug Remover tool is highly recommended. I quess I should get me one since I've been wrenching for 30 years.
