5.3L Idle Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2001 Tahoe with a 5.3L.

The truck has approx. 53K miles on it and I have owned it since June of 2004.

Right from the get go, I noticed that there was a very slight miss at idle. Looking at the tach, it isn't jumping at all when it misses so I'm just wondering if it's plugs?

It really isn't all that noticeable, but I know it's there and it really bugs me! :banghead:

I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced this?

Would you start with plugs and wires and if that doesn't solve it maybe look at getting the injectors cleaned?

Any Thoughts?

Have a reputable shop check you camshaft sensor (distributor) retard and also your alternator for excessive A/C voltage. New plugs are easy to do and never hurt, cleaning injectors works well. Look under the hood at night for sparks leaking from any plug wires, if you hear a steady clicking or poping look there.
