5.7 vortec to carb

i recently bought a 97 vortec motor and wondering if i can convert to carb the only issue is since the 97 has coil packs does it still have the capability to run a distributor when i buy an aftermarket carb intake

I don't believe any 5.7 had coil packs, they all had distributors. However, the whole electronics package, even with a distributor, still is integrated with the ignition timing and fuel injection. You may be able to retrofit non-electronic controls with a carb, but might be helpful if you explain why you want to do what your trying to do.
