Looking for info on 2000 - 2001 Tahoe's...

Starting to think about purchasing another vehicle. I've noticed a few Tahoe's on AutoTrader that are in my price range. Most seem to be 2000 or 2001 models. I'd like to know if there are any known major issues with Tahoe's from these years. If anyone has any experience please let me know.

Thanks

I have an 01 with a 4.8 and 51K on it. No major problems so far. I had an issue with the egr valve but thanks to the group on this web site I got it taken care of for a few dollars.

I can't say that I am crazy about the gas mileage but it is a full size vehicle. My wife loves it.

Just traded in a 2000 Tahoe - not because anything was wrong, just wanted a pickup -

had 113,000 miles - still original brakes .... the only thing I replaced was 1 set of tires and a battery. Ran like a top.

If it were my choice, I would go with 01 over 00. I believe 00 was the first year of the body change for the Tahoe and I have heard of some minor problems that got worked out for 01.

The only problems I've had (all fixed under warranty):

- replaced both rear power window motors (I've heard this was a common problem - the original run had problems, but the replacements have been fine)

- replaced high note horn 2x (same one went out 4x in my 98 Z28)

- reflashed pcm or whatever for intermittent 2nd gear start

- replaced both rear Autoride shocks that showed signs of leaking

- even though there was no problem, I proactively replaced the rear parking brake assemblies with the newer modified parts that keep the pb from dragging thus possibly detroying the whole hub
