what is Displacement on Demand?

Yes 4th will be a 1:1 ratio, first may be 3.27:1 and 2 overdrives, but those ratios are unconfirmed.

D-o-D is a condition where the computer shuts off 4 un-used cyclinders to conserve fuel.

Displacement on Demand is GM's system for shutting down four of the cylinders during times of low engine demand, such as when cruising with light throttle or decellerating. Its been in the works for awhile, I remember reading about it in popular science a few years ago. Here is a link to a pretty good article that I found using Google.

All in all sounds like it will improve fuel economy without killing the power.

Off-topic, but in mid 2006 (right before the new models come out) how much of a discount would GM do on the current models?

I am thinking of getting a GM SUV or a truck and I do not know if I want to lease it or buy it ... depending on the discount.

Thanks

D O D is supposed to return to normal before the next cylinder fires. It is supposed to be near undetectable. I saw a short "road test" think I even came into it late.
