rently Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Both of my front lower ball joints are bad on my 2000 Sierra. The dealer has mentioned I have to replace the whole arm? What's the real story? Please advise.
potz1999 Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Try a different dealer. They used to make you buy the whole arm, but now GM makes just the replacement ball joints. I just had mine replaced and lucked out on not having to buy the whole arm.

When I installed the lift kit in my 02 Sub I chucked the GM Ball joints and replaced them with the Spicer Units. Also, I thought the ball joints on the lower arm of NBS trucks were all press fit?

It has been about a year, but at the time the only replacement kit available was from dealer ( about $70 per). Had to drill out factory rivets to replace, decent amout of work. BUT, if the entire lower arm was replaced it would also have nice fresh set of bushings which help keep ride smooth. ur call
