Ok guys have a question about your clay bar usage. I may represent a product that is an all in one that rivals the clay bar. But it seems that within the last 6 months demand for the clay bar has dropped significantly. So...what is your opinon about using the clay bar? Was it too difficult? Too expensive? Didn't care for the results? Any input here would be greatly appreciated.

Easy to use, lubricate - lubricate - lubricate. Windex works fine. Just spray, spray, and spray.

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't hear that much about it. You only use it a couple of times a year if that much. It pulls the junk off the clear coat, including wax. One must re-wax afterwards.

Thanks for the response. I know how a clay bar works, but my question is why has the clay bar popularity gone down? A year ago they were in every Wally world and parts store. Now you can only get it here in select parts stores. So what has caused the decline?

I don't ***think*** its popularity has gone down. I mean, this product is a body shop commodity. It has GOT to be a slow mover in the consumer market. Perhaps it is a regional thing. I mean, its very nature would certainly make it less popular when compared to shelf-stocked waxes, for example. Heck, 20 units of this stuff would probably sell for every 500 units of Turtle Wax.

On the other hand, in my area, it is at Wally-World, NAPA, and AutoZone. Popular enough. And, I've seen it for at least 10 years in these same stores. This is not exactly a new product. I recall seeing it for years, trying to figure out exactly what it was for. Local body shop showed me how to use it. I haven't purchased a replacement bar in two years.

I don't think the clay bar is on a decline heck its been around for 15 yrs or more but just in the last couple it has been marketed towards the retail market instead of the professional market. The professional market is still strong on the bars. IMO most people (retail) who went out and bought a clay bar have used it and still use it (the same bar) instead of starting with a new one like the professionals do. I would guess when spring hits the sales will pick up also. If possible could you e-mail me some info on this product you are talking about ([email protected]). thanks!

The clay bar was a great idea, I worked in body shops and there is a market there. As for the home use, more difficult for the every day consumer. I personally love it and would continue to use it if I could still find it. But then again, I know how to use it and what is for.
