ive smelt this on other cars, is this normal or should i be concerned, that rotten egg smell  04 burb

Sounds like the catalytic converter, they do tend to smell like that if you are following someone with one up a hill or at highway speeds, although they don't usually smell like that at idle, at least mine doesn't. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Agreed. There is nothing in the converter that can manufacture that smell out of nothing. As I understand it, what's actually the cause is the hydrogen used in the refining process to remove sulfer. If it's not processed properly, hydrogen sulfide is left behind. This is the rotten egg smell stuff.

In my experience it has been a gas issue ... try a few other brands; BUT, actually all the gas comes from the same place/terminal - they add different additives for the different brands while filling the tankers (I confirmed this with 2 tanker drivers) so even changing brands might not help.

Double agreed...I didn't realize about the hydrogen part though. I was led to believe that it was sulfer that was oxygenated by the cat converter to make sulfer dioxide, which smells like rotten eggs. I guess that either (hydrogen sulfide or sulfer dioxide) would have that odor.
