Silverado Stalling

2001 Silverado 5.3 4x4

 

When below freezing. Making hard turns at slow speed (foot off gas) the whole thing will just die on me. Thought it was battery (replaced with Optima Red Top), replaced fuel filter, pump and sending unit, and level sensor. All connections are good. Does anyone out there have any ideas what else it could be. I think the powersteering pump is dragging the engine down, all the way to a stall. The truck only has 66K on it. Just let me know. Thanks

Fuel pump would have been my first guess, but you changed that already. I remember some reports of bad ignition switch a good while back. Try a search for "faulty ignition switch". I assume it starts right back up? It's gonna be hard to isolate if its intermittant. So the dealer will most probably reply "Can not duplicate". You may be able to try using a volt meter on the ignition switch connector while jiggling the switch with the steering wheel fully turned and look for a voltage drop. As an after thought, check fuel pressure regulator. If you remove the vacuum hose and it's wet inside, the diaphram is probably ruptured.Good luck.

I'd try cleaning the throttle body as my first step...some of the IAC passages may be carboned up. Check and make sure that the air intake tube is tight and not cracked while you're there.
