changing cluster

I have a 99 GMC Sierra, been having some issues with the speedo/tach not always working correctly. So i'm thinking about getting a new cluster and get the trans temp guage.

Read on here that if you dont get them from jp customs, the airbag will always be on. Saw on ebay a nice one pretty cheat from usspeedo(another place talked about on here). I asked about the light and got the follow email back from them on this issue.

There is no fix.  The bulb could be removed so it does not light.  There is a small change in the software and a change where the light is at on the board.

That didn't sound too good to me for a fix. I'm sure there are reasons for the light to come on, and wouldn't want to miss this reason.

So those who got the cluster from jp customs, does your air bag light ever come one(like when starting the truck,,etc). Or is this the same way they fixed this issue.

Thanks

i got mine from jp customs. every single thing my original cluster did, this cluster does. when you start the truck you know how all the lights come on and the air bag light comes on and then it goes right off. :withstupid:

Mine came with zero miles, and I spent $100 to have some guy input the mileage and run hours for me. I'm sure that you can get it done cheaper if you shop around...I was a little impatient. I've heard of folks getting it done for $50-$75. Check around for GM certified electronics repair shops.
