Flakey gas gauge thing

Recommended Posts

There's been thread upon thread about the fuel sender problems on these trucks, But I've noticed that (when I know my tank is mostly full and the low fuel light is on) all I had to do is shift out of park kinda thru the gears and then back to park and the gas gauge works for as long as I don't turn off the truck. Pretty predictable, anyone else like this? Makes it seem more like a grounding problem or something more than the actual sender. Hey food for thought... :withstupid:

Actually there is a damping device in the gauge that is not activated when in Park or Neutral. It keeps the reading more steady when driving so that if you go up a hill, hit a bump, etc. the gauge doesn't go nuts with the sloshing fuel. Ironically my gauge fluctuates worse when in Park, going from full to empty. I use the trip meter rather than the gauge.

Guess it's time for a new picture thingy. :withstupid:
