Shocks

Well since the day was nice here in Delaware, I decided to change my shocks. After a lot of research, it came down to the Monroe Reflex and the KYB Gas-a-just. Since the Reflex is not recomended for pick-ups, I opted for the KYB. After the 30 minutes to install them, I took the truck for a ride, nice is all I can say. The wheels stay on the road, firm but smooth ride. I think I made the right decision. Not to mention the $100 I saved for buying the KYB's.

Oh yeah, and the body roll has been decreased big time. I was going to add a new front sway bar and a rear sway bar, but now I can wait for a while on that.

Really?? I've never heard this...Monroe has part numbers for the Reflex on GM pick-ups. I'm curious mainly because I installed them in the rear, last fall. I notice a diff in ride...stiffer, but no problems I can see.

Did you replace all 4 shocks or just the rear? :D

They have part numbers for the Chevy trucks, but the shocks are not suggested. The weight range is close to the top of the scale. I replaced all 4, sprayed the pins on the top of the fronts with penetrating oil. Use the air impact wrench and the air ratchet, 30 minutes later, the job was done.

When you do get around to installing that rear sway bar, the smile on your face will get even wider. After I put mine on (Hellwig), the improvement in cornering was dramatic - solid and flat.

I read that the Hellwig sway bars were a pain to install and might even require some customization. Is any of this true? How hard was the install on your vehicle?
