cell-phone kit installation help

I have an 03 1500 Z71 with LT package, and I'm trying to install a cell phone car kit. I have a couple of questions:

What's the best place to tie into an 'on with ignition' wire, and an 'always hot' wire?

Also, the kit says to tie another wire into the orange wire on the back of my stereo bundle, so that the kit can mute my stereo when a call comes in. However, I have three orange wires back there--two larger ones that are together, and one smaller one grouped with the other smaller ones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get key on and constant power right at the fuse block, although the easiest spot is probably right at the ignition switch harness. You just need a test light or voltmeter (voltmeter is best for accuracy and circuit protection), and you have to probe the wires w/ key on/off, and see when you have voltage.

As for which orange wire, can't help you there...I do know that that feature won't work with every radio and vehicle. I installed a Sony Erickson unit in a Chrysler once, and when I called the tech line with the same question, they told me that only certain European cars can take advantage of that feature.

It took your image several seconds to load--until then I was like, "dude, what diagram?" :D

Anyways, THANKS A LOT!

...however, I'm kind of a rookie at reading these things, so I'll have to do a bit of studying to see if I can make heads/tails of it. The 'DLC' wire on the diagram sounds a bit promising, but I'm not sure. Anything you or anyone else can add would be wonderful.

As an update, I tied into the cig lighter for constant 12V, and the SEO/ACCY slot on the fuse box for ignition sense.

BTW, I suppose you need a userid/password to get to that type of info on the gm service website?

Thanks again for going to the trouble to get me the diagram.
