Radio woes

My sis' bf has a 2003 Silverado w/ 6 disk bose and there is now no sound. At first it went off and after playing with it it came back on momentarily and hasn't played since. All the lights work on the radio, clock, etc. but no sound from the speakers, including the door dinger. Anyone have this problem before? Amp? or head unit?

YES!!! :banghead: Look under the hood at the large fuse box.(Left side over wheel well) Find the fuse for the Amp and pull it. Then replace. Works for me(several times).

The amp plug is located in the console. Pull out the cup holder tray (it just pops out) and you will see the plug. It is large and it is lever action so it should lock together tightly. However if this is unplugged you will lose the functionality of your amp. The radio will power on but you will not hear the chime, OnStar, or any music from the Radio. Check this plug. You may even unplug it and plug it back in.

Could be amp or hu. Easy for the dealer to check for you. Possibly a databus issue that could need reporgramming also (have seen this a few times).

hi - although a year later, my 03 tahoe has exactly the same problem. a couple questions please before i do battle with the dealership:

is the bose amp located in the center console? i complained to the dealer during the warrenty period that the console was " warm to hot" sometimes. it was uncomfortable to place my hand immediately aft of the swing up door. opinions?

is the amp fused anywhere else other than the underhood fusebox?

any other ideas i can check?

thanks in advance for anyone's help. i love the truck and this is all that has ever gone wrong.
