Squeaking Seat Belt Mechanism

Recommended Posts

I'm driving along and keep hearing this squeak once in a while. I thought it was coming from outside until I rolled up the window. Turns out it's the seat belt takeup mechanism in the driver's seatback. Every bump or whatever causes the seat belt to go in/out a little bit makes a chirp. It's right behind my ear so I can't "remove the noise" with louder tunes!

Anybody else run into this yet? I suppose a squirt nozzle on the teflon spray can might help it, but I'd hate to hork up the seatbelts or get them all oily.

Yeah it drove me crazy as well. I took it back to the dealer to have the belt replaced. hasn't given me a problem yet.

I had the same problem, I pulled the seat belt out all the way and shot a little squirt of teflon lube [with the little tube] on either side and let it sit for about twenty minutes with a spring clamp holding the seat belt out. Presto no noise, no mess. I hope that it works that well for you.

Okie Dokie then. I'll give her a quick shot of Teflon lube and hopefully kill the noise.

Thanks for the help!
