Brake Job

I am going to do my brakes this weekend. i am pretty confident on most of the process, but what should i do with the calipers?

i am at 120k on the truck and these are still the original brakes. do i need to lube the caliper (the slides?)?

is there any other maintenance that I should do on the calipers to ensure that they are (and will continue) to function properly?

Definitely inspect and lube the sliders, I used nickel-grade anti-sieze when I did mine. It's also a good idea to flush the system first, or at least open the bleeders when you compress the caliper pistons to avoid pushing dirty fluid back into the ABS actuator, then bleed the system.

Definitely pull the calipers, clean the slides and cavity and relube. THis is critical. Also, check the bleeder valve as at that mileage somtimes they will no longer seal once cracked. At that mileage, some recommend replacing them.

I chose to replace all 4 calipers at 130K as they were only about $40 a piece and I plan on driving my Hoe over 200K. I also installed SS brake lines at 130K. With a safety item like brakes, I was not willing to take a chance on a big heavy vehicle that I drive pretty hard

Like them. Not as significant improvement in pedal firmness as I hoped but noticeably better than stock.

I got a Goodwins or Goodrich kit off ebay for around $110 from a seller named hoerrracing11 . Seems like very good quality and no problems installing. I added some poly tubing around the SS where it came close to other things like control arms but everything matched up perfectly..
