Tires for Z-71 Suburban

I have noticed that my tires are wearing on the outsides too much, front and rear on my Suburban Z-71. Common sense tells me that my tires are underinflated, so I checked the pressure and it is fine. Actually the fronts have always squatted and look low at first glance, but the pressure is within spec.

My Suburban has the Goodyear "P"rated tires on them and from what I have gathered form here and other forums, they are not the greatest tire anyway.

My question is this. When they wear out, can I put a 285 tire on the stock wheels without rubbing issues? I would like to fill the wheel wells out a bit and put a quality tire on when these are shot.

If someone has done this, can you post pictures??

Remember, the Z-71 Burban has 17 inch rims, not 16's like the truck Z-71's.

You might have a difficult time finding 285's in a 17" rim. If you do I'd expect that you would need to crank the t-bars. Shouldn't have to trim anything. Just guessing here...

When my wife's goodyears go bad I'm planning to add a set of Revo's if they come in 17's. Have Revo's on my HD. Love them.

While I have not tried the Revo's, I do love the BFG AT KO and will probly go that route, either in the 265 or 285. I know BFG has them in the 17's.

I have 17" Escalade rims on my '95 Tahoe and I went with the Goodyear AT/s's in a LT265/70-17 and love them. They have a more open and deeper tread than the P seiries. Also I have about 15K on mine and they are wearing even acorss the face, I think the P seies tires with a softer side wall tend to "roll under" more and wear the edges quicker.

BFG makes a A/T KO 285/70/17 that'll fit under the Z71 w/o any problems. I run them on my '05. Seeing that you have a 17" rim - you can't get the BFG in a 285/75
