'02 2500 HD Silverado BUMP Again

Forgive me bringing up a dead horse topic. I am the new owner of a used 2500 HD, Crew Cab, Short Box. I have what some posters are referring to as the bump addressed in the TSB #01-04-17-004. I took it to the dealership where I bought it, got the run-around. Service Mgr. says the TSB does not cover a 2-piece driveshaft on a 2 Wheel Drive vehicle. Seems to include all others, 4WD, AWD, 1 pc Drive Shaft. This is odd because I have the 4L80E trans and the same part number Yoke as a 1pc driveshaft. All the same part numbers but not covered by the TSB. The vehicle is still under the 90/3,000 used warranty. Has anyone had the same experience? Any advice is appreciated.

I think that TSB is only for 1500's with AWD or Automatic 4WD.

Your 2500HD has a *bump* or *clunk* when coming to a stop or accelerating from a dead stop?

Like vhato said, if your truck has a bump/klunk when stopping and starting, it is a slip yoke problem.

I had the 2-piece driveshaft rplaced in my truck with a 1-piece unit, but my truck is a 4x4 (I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but from what you said it sounds like it does...) My truck had a shudder/vibration when I would take off.

Bumps from a dead stop. Finally got it to do the "Bump" while the Used Car Mgr. was driving. Took it back when they could work us in. They changed out the slip yoke on the rear-end. We'll see if that fixes it. No "Bump" yet, but it is still <50 miles since the change.

This is a great forum. Thanks to all that help.

I have a 2001 GMC 2500 HD 4X4 EXTENDED CAB LONG BOX 6" PRO COMP LIFT, AND I HAVE THAT SAME SHUDDER WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. IS THERE A FIX FOR THAT ?

I had to fight real hard to get them to look into the TSB for my truck. 2002 25hd CC LB... Turns out mine was covered but they gave me the run around. Got the slip youke replaced and the sound went away. Guess what its back!!! This truck is going to kill me... :chevy:

Has anyone had a failure due to this "bump"?

Is it a real problem or just an annoyance, kind of like the piston slap on cold start ...
