Just picked up my first Chevy truck in a LONG time after being a Dodge guy for many years. It's an '05 LS Extended Cab with the 4.8. It beat the RAM hands-down IMHO. Thankfully, I also found this great forum after alot of searching on Google.

I can highly recommend Covert Chevy in Bastrop (near Austin). Great to deal with, and I was amazed to get one that was pretty loaded for far below $300/month on a 24-month lease with absolutely zero down.

Anyways, my first priority is power -- but without the obnoxious sound. I've had Magnaflows & Flowmasters and am now pretty much past wanting the Flowmaster drone any longer.

Exhaustclips.com has some pretty good clips featuring the Dynomax UltraFlow. Seems to have that nice low rumble without an obnoxious sound to it. Does anyone have those on their truck? I also liked the sound of the Magnaflow here:

4.8 MagnaFlow Drive-by Video.

Also, what should I expect to pay for a catback system (I'm guessing 2.25" is the best choice in diameter so I don't lose low-end torque) with long chrome tips? $250? More?

Thanks!

I'm of absolutely no value when it comes to answering your questions, but thought I'd say welcome over from RAM land. This is really a good forum and there are lots of helpful people. Someone will answer your question shortly. Anyway hope you enjoy your new truck and congratulations. :flag:

Thank you for the info AND the welcome to the forum. My surfing through the archives has yielded some excellent information. It appears the Corsa system is a tad over my budget at the moment.

Amazing how much of a difference cat-back dual exhaust systems can vary by shop. The local independent place wanted $590! My local Midas will do it for $229 if I provide the muffler. I believe they do Mandrel bending. They guy on the phone there made it a point to tell me to expect a 2/3-hour wait because they really want to ensure everything is lined up properly.

I think I'm going to go with the 22" Magnaflow and stainless steel tips.

Looking forward to learning more from this forum.

Do you see lots of law enforcement vehicles around town? Every new vehicle bought by a Federal Law Enforcement Agency has to go through the Federal Prison there in Bastrop, the inmates do all the retrofitting (light bars, cages, etc.). They are good at getting in the back seats already! :D
