Allison trans

Helo everyone............I'm new and I need help

 

I have a 8.1/allison. just the other night the trans wouldn't shift out of 3rd. On the blue readout gear selector, the numbers/letters don't highlight correctly. It delays and they don't all highlight. It seems that only the R gets highlighted. The truck has 42,000 mi and I bout it used as GM Certified.

 

I would seriously appretiate some help

Take it back to the dealer..have them replace the NSBU(nuetral safety back-up) switch...it is a common problem with the Allison trans.

yup...this is one of the only known problems for the ally. the front drivers side tire kicks up alot of junk in that area.

I have an Allison issue as well, all be it different than this one, I'll hijack this thread as it seems to have been resolved.

 

My Alli seems to shift rough at times, both donwshift and upshift. It's particularly bad when stopping suddenly or stepping on the gas suddenly after coasting.

 

Is this an issue with the programming?

sometimes i'll come to a stop in traffic and it jerks pretty good getting into 1st gear. Just returned from a 6 day off highway adventure-- 600 miles of dirt all the way and the 2500 performed flawlessly. Mud, snow and had to winch down a 10' snow drift-- yes, winch down backwards to get thru. pix direct upon request. Carrying two spare jerry cans of gas saved my a$$-- the tank on the 8.1 is not that big and when ur 100 miles from next gas, its good insurance.
