total electric failure

2001 GMC YukonXL Driving on highway at 60mph. Car lost all electricity on all circuits. Like the car was taken over by UFO. Clock lost one hour. Seemed like a Steve Speiberg movie. Coasted to a stop. No lights, dome, hood dash etc.

 

Was ready to jump from battery. Wiggled fuses and power came back.

 

Help not ready to go with the aliens. Help please.

Was there a really bright light around you?

 

Absolutely nothing electrical worked? Headlights, door locks, horn, etc., etc.

i Have Heard that people have lost power due to that little red box located below the alt where the pos battery cable goes into will corode and short out.

I agree with stocklook, I would also check the battery cables, the chevys have a habit of corroding inbetween the connectors and also have a habit of loosening bolts which will cause power failure.

That is where I will look for the trouble thanks...we wiggled the red box abnd it was then we were able to get lights so I think you may be on to something....thanks

Never saw a problem at that box, but possible of course. We've probably replaced thousands of batteries for acid leaks at the positive post.
