Does 04 Bose have CD changer control?

ok, I've seen/read over a lot of posts about the new I Pod interfaces systems that are on, or coming to the market soon. Great! Exactly what I am looking for. Now how do I tell if they will work with my OEM radio?

All of the posts and on line docs/specs I have read simply say, "if your radio has the CD changer input they work". Ok i looked into this a little and GM offered a number of different options and features all which seem to effect this. Is there an expert out there who can tell me if mine has the correct input or not.

I have a 04 2500 HD with the factory Bose stereo. Most of these came with an in dash 6 CD changer. However for some strange reason GM offered the option of eliminating the in dash 6 CD changer and instead getting a single CD and single cassette deck. While I realize most of you are probably too young to know what a cassette deck is just bare with me, it is an old out dated medium used to store and deliver audio, like an 8 track use to. Ok forget I mentioned 8 tracks too.

Anyway, I have the Bose with the cassette (not by choice) but also have On Star and XM. I have a very good close up picture of it that I will post some day when I figure out how. I know the On Star and XM play into this picture some how. I would NOT have any problem losing the ability to play cassettes or the On Star if that helps me.

Basically the HU has a top row of buttons that has (seek/scan), (1/PREV), (2/NEXT), (3/REV), (4/FWD), (5/SOC), (6/ROM or POM) Then is has a second row of buttons under the cassette tape input that are labeled (BAND), (TAPE/DISC), (INFO), (SEEK/TYPE), (TRAF), (AUTO EQ), (AUTO VOL).

Ok I know what most of these are. I am hoping that the (5/SOC) is a button that can select an alternate source? If so is there a spare one even though I have both On Star, Cassette and XM or did Chevy suck up all the line ins I had?

Does anyone know what the signals are by pin on the plug in to the head unit? Or does anyone know where I could find this out?

Any help would be appreciated.

All of the inputs on the factory plug are the same, meaning that the CD changer XM and RSE all use the same 3 wires, the databus controls witch source it auctually plays or slash hears coming in.

If you add options like XM or Sirius those will be switched on with the "band" button, if you add the 6 disc console changer the "CD/ tape" button will toggle to that device.

If all you want to do is say goodbuy to the CD/Cassette Player and install the Bose 6 disc indash player then you are in luck. all you have to do is simply do the swap, the Headunits are a direct swap. Keep in mind thought that if you get a used unit it will be theftlocked when you install it and it will need dealer programming to clear the old VIN from the headunit so that it will work in your vehicle.
