GROUND

I'm going to be installing KC Lights to be used as backup lights and I'd like to know where in the back of the truck would be the best place to ground them. I'm running a direct wire from the front positive box to the back to provide 'power'.

 

I'm also going to be installing a two pin connector, installed in the back of the truck, so that I can operate a power winch for my boat that . I'm also going to need a good ground in the back of the truck for this unit also, and I will be running a positive lead from the front of the truck.

 

My vehicle is a 2001 Sierra Z-71 with a factory installed towing package, wiring cable and the trailer mounting bracket installed.

 

Or should I just run a negative lead from the front of the truck to the back ?

The trucks frame without question as it should be strapped to the battery in engine compartment.

I agree. Use a reasonbly heavy ground cable. Make it as short as comfortably possible while still ensuring a nice job and decent cable routing without a lot of extra slack cable. Attach to the frame. Otherwise you may start to get noise in your stereo system.
