HU & LUX Amp Install

Recommended Posts

Posted

In my 04 Chev. 2500HD with Bose, I installed HU 15204335 (LUX) with Amp 15188044 (LUX) yesterday. I did the wiring mods at the amp connector as posted 1/7/05 including moving B12 (bare wire) to B7, instead of moving E (bare wire) to B7. The E (bare wire) was capped.

Additionally, I did the VSS A4 Cluster to the E pos. at the C2 12 pin connector. For the Class II wire I used the pink B3 moved to the A1 pos. at the radio and the pink at B11 moved to the B10 at the amp as Linda suggested.

I understand I have to go do the Tech II Theft Unlock.

My concern is what I observe right now. With the key on any position except off the HU is blank. When I push the HU "0n button" I hear a brief CD/DVD mechanism sound, a small rectangle with various times lights up on the screen, the buttons on the HU light up and that s it. The clock in the rectangle and the HU buttons light up for less than a minute then all goes out untill you press the "on button again.

Please Advise!!! Is this typical? Or is something not right?

Also, I have this nagging suspision that I may have damaged the 24 pin connector at the AMP. Where can I find a replcement connector and what is the parts number? If anyone can help I would appreciate very much.

I believe you have some wires wrong, there is more changes than you listed that you did. The headunit should light up and all that should be on the screen is "theftlock activated"

The replacement connector is part # 12110088

Here is the wires that need to be moved in the 24 pin connector to go from a non-lux amp to a lux amp.

A1 - do nothing

A2 - do nothing

A5 - move to A4 (brown wire)

A6 - move to A3 (yellow)

A7 - move to A8 (dark blue)

A8 - move to A7 (light blue)

A9 - move to A5 (tan)

A10 - move to A6 (gray)

A11 - move to A9 (light green)

A12 - move to A10 (dark green)

B1 - cap off, not used (gray/black)

B2 - cap off, not used (purple)

B3 - cap off, not used (black)

B4 - cap off, not used (dark blue)

B5 - cap off, not used (dark green/white)

B6 - cap off, not used (brown)

B7 - move to B3 (orange/black)

B8 - move to B6 (light green)

B9 - move to B4 (dark green)

B10 - move to B5 (tan)

B11 - cap off, not used (pink)

B12 - move to B7 (bare wire)

Add data bus wire from B1 (small orange wire) on the headunit 24 pin connector to B10

Add microphone positive wire to B1 (optional, but recommended for the sound compensated volume to work) and the mic ground wire to B2 or B7.

Here is the wiring changes for the 8 pin connector on the non-lux to lux amp swap

A ( black w/ white) do nothing

B (dark blue wire) move to E

C (dark green) move to B

D not used

E (bare wire) just remove and cap off

F (light blue w/ black) move to G

G (light green w/ black) move to D

H (orange) do nothing

When you moved the pink wire to A1 (at the radio) did you leave the orange wire there and splice into it, if not that is one of the problems.

Check your wiring changes with the chart I listed above and let me know if you did them all.

The VSS wire you did is correct, so I didn't mention it, just check the others.

Thanks, I had capped the orange A1, I replaced it and tapped with pink wire.=WORKS. Appears all is well, will get UNLOCK tomorrow.

Sorry "docdennis" if i was unclear about the "PINK" wire. I just meant it could be used instead of running a seperate wire through the console. It would still need to be soldered into the orange existing wire at "A1".
