I'm New Here.....

Hi everyone,

I Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm new here. I really enjoy this site and I'm a proud Chevy Z71 owner...However I have a slight dilemma....not a bad one though..Wouldn't mind hearing your opinions on this:

I currently own a '93 Z71 Stepside...Single cab, Indigo blue in very good condition. It's been garage kept since I got it in late '92.  It hit 92000k highway miles on it and the only problem it's ever had was that the water pump needed replacement and minor maintenence issues such as battery replacment and alignment.  The mods I have on it are Gibson cat-back exhaust, smittybuilt nerf bars, and a Manik grille/brush guard..Future mods would be a 4" rancho lift, 33" tires and cool wheels....However, lately I've been toying with the idea of getting a new silverado...But everytime I get ready to go down to the dealer and buy a new one it seems someone always says something like "keep it..it's in great condition for it's age"..Plus the fact I'd probably miss it and would be pissed if someone bought it and trashed it....I'd like to have the extra cab which I'm sorry I didn't get originally but it would probably only be used to throw my dog in back or occasionally haul my drumset...So I have some things to think about. :)

What do you think? I can post a pic of my ride when I figure out how...Keep up the great job on the site!

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a very nice truck and I am looking forward to seeing the pics. I guess if you are happy with your truck then keep it. If you feel like it is time to move on then do so. Keep in mind the dealer will give you nothing compaired to what your truck is worth. If you are ready to move on then you will do your best by selling it on your own then using the money as a down payment. That way you can be kind of selective as to who gets your baby.

Welcome to the Forum Joe!

Sounds like a nice truck.  If you've got the fever for a new ride and can't keep the current truck, I'd say sell it yourself.  That way you decide who gets it and you'll get more than you would from a dealer trading it in.  If you sell it, sure you'll miss it.  But I have a feeling you'll get over it quickly when you're running around sporting a new truck!  Not an easy choice, but best of luck deciding -

After just reading John's reply, its obvious Joe, that great minds think alike.  And so do John and I! -

welcome. if i were you, id keep the truck you have and buy a new one. now interest rates are so good and leases arent bad too, it may be worth your while to keep your old truck until you decide what to do with it. like the others said the dealer wont give you crap for it. i had a '77 impala. my granddad gave it to me. it had 100,000 original miles on it. custom paint, new interior, custom rimms, low pro tires, tint, stereo. nice car, i got offered $500.00 from the dealer! i sold it outright for $2,500.00. however, i wish i still had the car today.

Welcome Joe.

I am with Big Punn with as low as interest rates are and with rebates if there's anyway to keep both that's what I'd do.
