Acetone Results

Recommended Posts

After all this craze about acetone I decided to try it in my truck. It's a 2002 6.0L CC 4x4 SB with 74k. I recently got the PCMFORLESS tune, and prior to that on 87 octane I was getting an average of 11.5 mpg. After the tune on 93 octane I was averaging 12.5 mpg. I added 6 ounces to my tank at fill-up which is about 2.3 oz per 10 gallons when they reccoment 2-3 oz per 10 gallons.

I drove my normal routes and didn't baby the gas at all. I made sure I drove as close to normal as I could, if not a bit harder. After waiting all week to see what the results were I filled up yesterday and I got..........12.5 MPG! :chevy::jester: It's like it had no effect at all on my truck.

I added 6 more ounces to the 21 gallons I got yesterday just to give it a second chance.

you b*lls are so much bigger than mine.....I would never put something like that in my truck. :jester:

Me neither and I think is is a waste of money too not to mention what it might do to some of the seals in the fuel system.

Or the paint if you spilled any on the side of the truck.

:jester: I was a bit leary of it at first, but there are soo many articles out there where people do it all the time, that I felt safe doing it. There are also a bunch of results from experiments where people soaked fuel system components in acetone and acetone/gas mixtures, and all it did was expand the seals a very small amount, and that was a much stronger mixture than they reccomend.

But, at least I know now that it's too good to be true!

Yes but a short term test soak does not equal long term use under pressure and varying temps too. You are playing with fire here as this is not a simple carbed engine either.
