Removing engine

I am replacing the engine in a 1998 GMC Jimmy. I have it clear to remove but the engine will not release from the converter snout. I have never had this problem before, any help for this?

Try unbolting the flexplate from the converter, it is much easier than pulling the converter out with the engine.

Make sure all the bellhousing to block bolts are out, there are some you cannot see up top!

Also check to see if you've unhooked the ground strap. This is probably at the rear of the engine going to the firewall.

Thanks for the suggestions. Glad to report I was able to remove the engine. Problem was lack of space and, because of that, lack of leverage. Pins were corroded into the transmission.
