crate Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 hey, first time poster here, I have tried to search for this answer but was not able to find what i'm looking for. I have a 99 Gmc Sierra(NBS) and my cluster at times does not work(the tach/speedo sticks) and i have to hit the top of the dash for the needles to work again. I have been looking on ebay for a replacement for my truck, and this is my question. I know from here that the 1999-2002 clusters will work in my truck from chevy/gmc trucks and large suv's. But my question is on the air bag light. Does this problem only happend if you get the guage with the transmission temp guage. Or does it happend with any cluster that is not 1999 specific? If it does happen no matter what, is there a way to fix it, besides removing the airbag light. I would think if there was a problem with the airbag that light would flash letting you know, and nothing with should up on the message center light Many thanks on this.

The problem occurs when you use a 2000-2002 cluster in a 1999. All the clusters and all the trucks have the sensors and wiring for the trans temp gauge but some just lack the actual gauge in the cluster. The circuity for the air bag light was changed in 2000, that is why the problem exist.
