dually 3500 tires

Has anyone changed from the original factory size 215/85/16 tires that came on an 02 dually to something a little taller. The original tire looks awfully small on my truck. I have a 2002 Sierra crew cab dually 4x4 and I understand the speedo problem that a bigger tire would give me but I like the look of a 235 a lot better than the original 215's. Anybody got a been there,done that,and have a story I should know about I sure would like here it. Thanks Scott

I think the problem you'll have is finding a taller tire without getting them too wide. If you get them too wide,you'll load the truck and when the tires squat,they'll start to rub together.

Your best bet would probably be a 7.50R16LT Its just a little narrower than the 235/85R16, and about the same height. The biggest thing is making sure that there is a little space between the rears to prevent a blowout. If the rears rub, they are too wide, and WILL blow out.

I use 1" wheel spacers. I just check the torque every once in a while.

I have LT255/85/16 by Winston. Needed a 1" spacer in the rear so the tires would clear each other.

 

I too, wanted to fill in the gap. I have a 3mph difference in speedo reading. No big deal, just as long as I know about it. heh...
