Them Thingies Update

Went and ordered me a pair of them thingies (L-shaped rubber  trim fastened to bed of truck between bed and cab), P/N 15757714.  They are actually called "Fleetside-Air Deflector" and they cost me 29.04 for the pair.  They even included the plastic push tabs for fastening (surprised me).

Was real easy to put on.  My truck had the four mounting holes already pre-drilled.

Do they cut down on the wind noise.  They sure do.  the difference is real noticable, I noticed it right off.  They don't eliminate all the wind noise, but there is a significant difference.

I don't have them on mine.  The '99's don't have the holes in the bed for them (I think).  But I may be able to take the digital camera from work down to the dealer one day and get a pic if no one else post one before that.

When you look down between the bed and cab, if you see four holes space about 8 inches apart in a outside curve, you're pre-drilled!

Your truck being a '99 might have something to do with it not being pre-drilled, even though the computer showed the part being listed for '99 - '02.  I seem to recall, on one of them other truck site, somebody getting them thingies but his rig wasn't pre-drilled.  He ended up using double-sided tape.

Sorry Tom, I'm a geek.  Thought that was you that posted about putting on the thingies.  I have just been so busy running back and forth from my den to the mailbox looking for my GMTC sticker I got confused.

I found them on gmpartsdirect.com for just over ? ea. Never have used to buy anything so don't know anything about them.
