Premium Ride Package

I have a 2004 Tahoe LT with a tow package. I have replaced the rear springs with a set of Eiback 2" drops. There info states if you have autoride you will need to install the supplied sensor links for correct adjustment. BUT..if you have the premium ride like I do you need to replace the rear shocks or it wont lower. I installed the springs and it sat the same height as the original springs. I changed the shocks to Gabriel max comforts and it now sits lower.

What is the deal with the rear factory shocks? More pressure? Do they have an inner spring or what? I noticed they are also super heavy.

Thanks for any info

That's odd. I would not expect gas charged shocks to actually be able to hold the vehicle up, but I never tried it. I never cut one open, but I never heard of any sort of spring inside a shock. Just gas pressure.
