GMC Reliability Ratings

Well,Its about time to finally hear some "good" news for GM. :ughdance:

JD Powers opinion on things holds about the same sway with me as Ving Rhames' choice of shampoos does.

Very rare for them to give praise to the general.

Or if GM would fix the sloppy driveshaft clunk that's continued for six model years, perhaps JD Powers' ratings would be more welcome around here...

I may be wrong, but I always thought JD Powers ratings were for INITIAL quality, like the first 6 months of ownership. They do not survey customers 3 years down the road.

While this is true my first 4 months with my 05 silverado vs. my 95 zr2 are night and day within the first month i was already at the dealer 3 times with the z.And to tell you the truth after looking thru every fullsize and midsize message boards for the last 1 1/2 - 2 years chevys have been faring pretty damm good imo.

It seems to me that every manufacture has problems nowadays even toyota, and while there is still the ocasional lemon that sneeks past the line for chevy they seem to be alot less then years past even with all the finacial problems there having.

The absolute worst is nissan there technical complaint and dealer bash section on just only titan talk message board in two years, has grown to over 41 pages of some minor but alot of major component failures! After reading there board i cant believe that people praise a truck like that when it will not even handle going down gravel roads without falling apart. The amount of people having problems within there first 10k in miles is mind boggeling.

Right, that is why I never even consider JD Power ratings. Long term- that is the key when looking at reliability.

I agree,I wish J.D. would survey owners after say 2 or 3 years of ownership,I bet the ratings would change then  (For all the manufacturers)
