Installing new radio w/sirius satellite radio

Got a Kenwood sirius satellite ready deck that I'm installing in my '98 Yukon. Everything looks very straight forward. My truck has the separate CD player in the dash, is that easy to remove?? Anyone know the part number to the little cubby trucks without CD have??

Only other concern I have is running wire from satellite antenna on roof. I'm assuming I can run it into the cab above the rear hatch easily? Any tips on this?

Not sure about the part number on that pocket. I ran my XM antenna wire thru the 3rd brakelight hole, that may be an option if you have a similar setup.

Thought I had the part number, but can't find it. But as far as the CD removal, it is just like the radio. Squeeze the tabs, and it just slides out.

I also ran my Sirius sat antenna through my third brake light, and siliconed it to asure it was weather tight. as for the reciever i mounted that to the fire wall. it was REALY easy. didnt even need to drop the roof.

I ran my antenna to the passenger side dash, up to the front. Very unobtrusive and the only time I have reception trouble is when my wife puts her crap over it during a car trip. Another bonus is it doesn't scream to every thief walking by that the satellite radio is there!

I had mine on the dash for about a week, until I could get time to run it through the headliner. Reception faded everytime I turned north. Works great on the roof now. My roof already had a hole from a cell antenna from previous owner but it worked out well for the antenna. My is in the front part of the roof racks and you can't see it at all.

Thanks guys for all the help!! I think I'll try to go out to the roof through the 3rd brake light. Just need to pull the rear headliner down a little to access it?? I'll be tackling this project probably tomorrow, so any more tips are welcomed.

I installed my Clarion Calypso in my suburban a couple weeks ago. I was going thru my third break light as you described and I was about 18 inches short on cable. Before you go thru the trouble, measure your cable, then "route" where your cable will be with a string to see if you will have enough cable. Kenwood may give you more or less cable than Clarion??

I mounted mine on the roof just above the windshield and ran the cable behind the windshield rubber, and into the cab thru the hole for whe door power cords.

elwood 2000, I should be all set with cable, think there is 21' with the antenna to go to the Sirius receiver and another 8' to go from receiver to the Kenwood deck.

thirdgoat, thanks for the tip for the dash pocket to fill where the CD was. Just ordered one from CKresto. Got a catalog coming too, never heard of them before.

Well I attempted swap and found a mess. Apparently my radio has been swapped out before. I removed it to find the wires had been all hacked then half-assed back together with crimp connectors. Guess I shouldn't have soldered a GM radio plug to my radio harness. What I'd like to do is find a stock plug for the truck side of the radio so it'll be a clean swap, any ideas where to find one??

At the very least I need a factory wiring diagram of the radio harness so I can sort out this mess. Did a little searching the web to no avail. Help.

Thanks, 99-2door!!

So I got everything in and working okay. I ran the Sirius antenna wire through the 3rd brake light, worked great, looks clean.

Now I have new problem, there is no sound from my middle speakers in the rear doors. To be honest I can't even remember if they were working with the factory stereo or not, but I do know that I only have front door speakers and speakers over the rear gate working. There is only wiring at the deck for front and rear speakers, how are the middle ones connected???
