Recently dropped about 100 mpg on 02 1500 silverado z71-Replaced air and fuel filter and cleaned intake before loss-Thinking oxygen censors.Any stories or suggestions would be helpful. thanks

Well, double check what you did first, make sure you didn't forget to tighten something or pinch something

Dropped 100 mpg?? What were you getting before? 200 mpg?

 

You must have one of those secret carburetors everyone's said for years that the manufacturers and oil companies have been hiding from consumers.

 

I'm sure you meant something else but I couldn't resist.

You must mean 100miles per tank, about 4 mpg. Is the air in your tires correct, look for simple things first. Did you add a cap to the bed? stuff like that.

I have heard about MAF cleaning many times. I have never done it even with over 100K miles on some trucks.

Just how does a MAF get dirty? Isn't only filtered air going across it? If it is getting dirty than isn't dirt getting into the engine.

Seems I would look for a filter problem if my MAF ever needed cleaning.
