AC stuck on?

Question:

With my truck's temp controls all the way on cold, air on recirculate, and the AC off, I get very cold air out of my vents. And, after driving on the freeway for a while, I stopped at a gas station and noticed I was dripping water off the condenser.

Is my AC actually staying on even though I have it turned off?

Now, if I turn it from recirculate to fresh air from outside, it gets noticeably warmer...like the AC is definitely not on. I'm not sure what's going on.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

check to see if the a/c compressor is engaged. its the pulley on the bottom left of the engine when youre looking from under the hood on the nbs v8s(if thats what you got). if the center of the pulley is moving, then your a/c is on, if its not, then its off and its probably just your imagination.

also, usually the water doesnt drip off the condenser. it usually drips from the acumulator and evaporator. but i assume this is what you meant.

i hope i helped a little. this is my first post that answers a question instead of asks one  but i learn a lot about a/cs from my last truck.

IIRC when recirc is on the AC is always on even if the AC LED is off ... plus if you have it on just vent, recirc off, AC off then turn the control to defrost the AC will engage.

Yes, you are correct...I meant evaporator/accumulator...I spoke (or should I say typed) without thinking.
