Wanted-Stock Air box

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am going to do some testing comparing the stock air box with aftermarket. If anyone has upgraded, I would be glad to pay shipping for a newer stock airbox.

Your help is appreciated, and results will be posted at the conclusion of testing.

descreened maf, k&n panel filter, removed top snorkel on box, baro press is 99.3 kpa, wot @ 5400 rpm map is reading 96 kpa. ;) not too bad of a pressure drop for mostly free.

sorry, was just trying to help, just finished some datalogging and thought I had the answer you were looking for.

I have the stock box, removed the top snorkel to fender piece, have a drop in k&n panel filter and removed the screen from the Mass Air Flow sensor.

Using autotap to datalog, the barometric pressure outside was 99.3 kpa, at wide open throttle you want the manifold pressure to equal the outside barometric pressure or greater in order to get the most hp and adequate air to fill the cylinders. I was showing 96 kpa (small vacuum) at wot around 5400 rpm, little pressure drop compared to a completely stock setup. Not sure if a aftermarket setup would help w/o a opened up MAF and throttle body.

I have the datalogs in excel spreadsheet form if you are interested.

good luck, sorry to whore up your wanted post.

Thanks very much. Is that a different style than today's trucks. I am needing the one found in 01 and newer, and I think that is different, but I really don't know.

Did you find an airbox? I pulled the box out of the attic that came off my '03 1500. There are two different part#'s on that box and the one that is on my '05. Let me know if you still need one and we'll try to work out something.

Thanks. I still need one and that would be very helpful. Part numbers change daily. Do they look the same?
