out of round tire?

Recommended Posts

Ok recently my truck has been driving wierd.  Kinda pulling to the right.  Seems like it is always windy (that is how the truck is driving)

Well i took off the front tires to do my shocks and when i was rolling the pass side tire back to the truck (after washing it in the driveway) it was all wobbly.  Wobbled side to side didnt roll straight.  The other tire (drivers side) rolled normal.

Is the tire out of round?  How can i get it fixed?

What should i do?

Thanks

If you have a broken belt that tire is going to be in a junkyard before too long.  I just hope your truck doesn't end up there with it.

You need to put that spare on tomorrow and get the tire/rim checked out.  It may not be anything serious, but why take a chance...

Like I said, it may not be anything serious.  But why take a chance?  If there is something wrong with that tire its better to get it taken care of.  Remember the whole explorer situation?

Do you remember hitting anything while off-roading or something that might have done any damage to the tire or rim?  I'd think a bad tire would cause a vibration of some sort.   Have you checked the pressures in them recently, that could cause the pull to the right.

Man, I don't know what to tell you might be wrong now.  I still think if the tire was out of round, or had a broke belt, etc it would cause a noticeable vibration.  And like you said, if the pressures are ok and they seem to be wearing good that can't be a problem.

I'm interested to see if running the spare corrects the problem....

added the spare today took it for a nice long drive.  Seems to be less play in the front end and the wondering/ windy driving feeling was lessened.

Im guessing its out of round or out of balance

Im gonna take it in tues most likely

Get that tire taken care of, a good tire shop shouldn't charge you anything to find out what is wrong with it.

We had broken belts on the front tires of our '96 two falls ago.  Not very fun, at certain speeds the steering wheel would wobble all over the place, as it would when you were braking.  Drove it like that for a month since we couldn't go without the truck for a day while new tires got put on.

Hummmm. I just had my truck aligned and the guy had to rotate the tires to get it to track straight. He said something about the possibility of a bad belt in one of the tires. By the way the guy that did my alignment is a true pro. He only does alignments at my dealer and I can't remember having one done better.
