1800 Mile Impressions

Highs and mild lows, overall a good thing.

1) Exceptionally smooth ride, especially when compared to the F150

2) Midgate thing works very well, but I would sort of like to see a power window that retracted into the midgate - I think this could lead to a more "Open cab" feel (Which you can do by taking the window out, but it takes a little effort.) Additionally, while I can take out the window while standing on the ground outside the truck, it is still a little awkward, and I can see how it would be hard for smaller people (I am 6'2")3. The drains for the midgate section work very well at least while the window is in and the gate is up, I have not had the cojones to try it without either in the rain yet. It is a little weird to hear the water flowing behind the cab when a lot has built up though.

4. OnStar is way cool.

5. I actually got more attention from the chicks at the Hooters' car wash when I drove it than I did when I drove the Vette. Avalanche.JPG

That may have had something to do with my refusal to let them wash the Vette though. :)

6. It is almost impossible to see most cars behind you over the tailgate. Not a problem at stoplights, but requires a little extra care when backing up.

More thoughts as events warrant!

Wow..you summed the experience up to the max. I could not agree more. I hadn't thought of an electric retracting rear window, but that would really work...I am not 6'2 so I have to kind of jump in and remove it.

Yea, really love #5!!!

Have you noticed that when running with the midgate down, window in place, and cover over the bed that there is more road noise?  I guess it is to be expected but kind of took me by suprise when I was returning from Lowe's with a bed full of lumber.

Did #5 include polishing the chrome on your trailer hitch (wink wink nod nod...)

They must have polished it a little too much - I have lost all the shine!
