Dash rattle - '99 Silverado

Hello,

I'm trying to find / fix a rattle in the front dash area, driver's side - around the spot where the top pad of the dash meets the A-pillar cover.

That part of the dash (the top pad) has always had a lot of "give" - I could always push it downward nearly an inch. Last month I had it into the dealer for this problem, and it seems like they put a bracket of some sort underneath - I can still push the top pad down, but not nearly as much as before.

Any ideas? I had planned to take the top pad out, but I don't see how to do that. I've got the front dash bezel off now, plus the 7 or so screws / bolts I can see, but now I'm stuck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Wayne

theres not a dash in the 99's yet that I haven't been in that didn't do it...  mine comes from the cup holder not the dash top.

LarryE - it's kind of sad when you think about it, isn't it? I mean, I realize it's a truck, but on the other hand it was $32k and I'd like to think it had a chance at being rattle-free.

Maybe I've just gotten back from the bar, and I'm a little too philisophical, or something. mikeb, thanks - Hopefully RyanbabZ71 will see this and comment (ttt).

Thanks,

Wayne

my rattle came from right above the instrument cluster.  Seemed that was rubbing on the trim that goes around the dash.  Its really had to explain but i removed the trim starting by the autotrac buttons and going to the radio.  Peeled that back and above the instrument cluster i added a few pieces of foam strips.  THis stopped it and i have not heard the rattle since
